The Mazda RX7 is a very popular car among car enthusiasts and is very popular for modifying purposes especially styling like body kits. There are a wide variety of kits available for the RX7 constructed of different materials such as fiberglass, polyurethane and carbon fibre.
Car body kits are a collection of exterior modifications to a car, typically composed of front and rear bumpers, side skirts, spoilers and sometimes front and rear side guards and roof scoops. There are many companies that offer alternatives to the original factory appearance of the vehicle. Body kits components are designed to compliment each other and work together as a complete design. Despite this, the 'mix and match' approach is often seen on cars, where the front of one body kit will be matched with the rear of another for example.
Automotive body kits are usually constructed of either fiberglass, polyurethane or in some cases carbon fiber - a popular and lightweight material. Polyurethane is popular with car enthusiasts because it is more resistant to damage and does not crack in cold weather. However, carbon fiber body kits are not as highly regarded among automotive enthusiasts, because it is very costly for a minimal weight difference.
Factory fitted body kits are now becoming more common, perhaps in response to the growth of the aftermarket tuning industry in the late nineties and onwards. Many manufacturers now work in-house with their motor sport divisions to develop styling upgrades.
Body kits do the body more than good—it's a total transformation. Sleek lines, mind-blowing designs and a lowered look that's simply must-have. Body kits give your ride that extra edge in bragging rights over a neighbour or buddy's stock rig with chrome stick-ons. For cars, trucks and SUVs alike
Body Kit Materials
When dealing with the look and feel of a car, as compared to race cars that you may have seen, there are two basic materials used for body kits - urethane and fiberglass.
Urethane is the main product used to make a Wings West body kit which explains why Wings West has such a good reputation for high quality radically styled body kits. Urethane is also fairly resistant to small "bumps" and will resist denting. These kits are very strong and can take a good amount of banging around before damaging. The only downside to urethane kits (if it has one at all) is that once damaged, it will probably have to be replaced. Although urethane body kits prices can be pretty high, you will also find the quality is equally as high. Urethane is at its core is a hard but flexible type of rubber. When one of these urethane body kits are installed, you will find that they are much easier to install than a fiberglass body kit (hence: saves money on installation) and it will last you for a very long time.
Fiberglass, on the other hand is less expensive (roughly half as much for materials as a urethane body kit). There are several upsides, but mainly the price to consider about fiberglass body kits and products. Variety is one of those key factors. No matter what the car or what the style that is sought out, fiberglass kits can most likely be found to fit the need. Since they are fiberglass, a lot of the time the body kits can be repaired if the damage is not too extensive. Some of the more popular carriers of fiberglass body kits are Extreme Dimensions and Kaminari.
